Our felting projects are amazing! We'll keep them at school through conferences and then send them home before Christmas. The kids are already asking!
We played games making numbers on five frames today. We played in partners and you can duplicate this type of game in any way at home. Each partner builds a number from 0 to 5 then we add it up and agree about how much it is! We say the sentence in both ways possible; 2 + 5 = 7 and
5 + 2 = 7. This is helping with basic addition facts to 10 and subitizing (or quickly recognizing a number) in a new way, other than on cards and dice. As well, we are practicing using mathematical terms and language to describe numbers and number operations.
We've also been using our language letter and sound skills to recognize and organize number words from zero to ten.
