Everyone to bed early! LOL. The teacher too! The change in time seems nice but seems to mess up our body clocks and we need to all go to bed and get lots of rest!
We will be visiting some "healthy eating" and "healthy teeth" ideas this week. Anything to keep us thinking about how much candy would be good for our bodies every day...
Tomorrow we have a scientist presenting an exciting session on Seasonal Changes! Today we did a check in with some literature and videos as well as a song about seasons going round and round. We read, "Winter is Coming" about a little snowshoe hare, called Lily who meets all kinds of other animals doing different things to get ready for winter. Ask if your child can remember any of them!
Ask me if I remember an animal who is a TRUE hibernator; hint, bears are not true hibernators, but we read about some under water hibernators who are! We found out that mama bears wake up to give birth to their babies in the den over winter! Then they go back to sleep. We learned a word, called "torpor" which describes the "hibernating" of a lot of winter animals, who actually wake and even get up and wander around a bit during the winter.
Most kids are bringing a new book home today; we read to ourselves and read to partners, as part of our daily routine.
We had a little extra exploration time in our room today to check out our newly arranged science and exploration spaces.
We practiced lots of ways to count to 100 today and played different math games and making number activities, including some basic addition, place value numbers and we even figured out how many legs there would be all together on 11 spiders!
Really looking forward to tomorrow AND our FELTING field trip on THURSDAY morning!
